We had a good dinner tonight. Mostly Japanese, with a couple asian dishes. Tonight's dinner: Kamaboko (steamed fish cakes), vinegared octopus, sujiko (salmon roe), kazunoko (herring roe), cucumbers, takuan (picked daikon radish), hiya-yakko (chilled tofu), and some korean pancakes with garlic chives. May sound strange to many of you, but it was a nice light, tasty meal.
Also made some pork stomach soup. Made with hog maw (pork stomach), konyaku (yam cakes), and daikon, seasoned with some miso, dashi (bonito stock), ginger, garlic, and a little sake. Dishes like this make me feel sooo Asian.
