Emi raced her first mtn. bike race, the Idyllwild Spring Challenge. She raced the junior course, in the girls 11 & 12-yr category, seven miles. She hadn't pre-ridden the race course, but had been on parts of it, and had been riding her bike when she can, so we were pretty sure she'd be ok.
Siren Mary was there too with some other familiar faces...
Emi's group was the last to go out. David decided not to race but be the sweeper instead to make sure Emi's group and other young riders make it through alright.
Abby did the kids race... her friend was there so they did it together.
The little ones all got a wooden medal with some wood burned images on it. Looked cool...
Bike races kinda end up being eating trips...
Emi, being the only participant in her category, won first place. She completed her lap in one hour and twenty minutes, much faster than we had expected. I think she was the only girl under age 14. That's impressive. She is going to accomplish a lot in her lifetime. Way to go, Emi!
